Xiaomi is currently preparing the launch of the Xiaomi 12 range for mid-December 2022. Apparently, the manufacturer led by Lei Jun is just waiting for the official announcement of the Snapdragon 898 processor from the North American Qualcomm.
Qualcomm unveils its next flagship processor at the Qualcomm Summit on November 30. Xiaomi has not yet confirmed any details regarding the Mi 11 series successor. While we wait for some official confirmation, tipster Digital Chat Station claims that the flagship series will launch in China next month.
The tipster did not reveal any specific launch date details. He, however, claimed that the device will feature Qualcomm’s next flagship processor. Qualcomm is expected to unveil the Snapdragon SM8345 SoC, aka Snapdragon 898 SoC, on November 30. In addition to this, the tipster notes that the display and the camera of the Xiaomi 12 series will be dominant. He did not dive deep into the details.
Furthermore, Digital Chat Station claims that Xiaomi chose a 50 MP sensor for the Xiaomi 12’s primary camera. For whatever reason, Xiaomi typically uses Samsung camera sensors rather than Sony Exmor sensors. Samsung has released four 50 MP camera sensors to date: the ISOCELL JN1, ISOCELL GN1, ISOCELL GN2, and the ISOCELL GN5.
The ISOCELL GN5 has yet to be deployed in a smartphone by any manufacturer, therefore it could be a candidate for the Xiaomi 12 series. According to reports, the Xiaomi 12 will offer 100 W wired charging, which should result in extremely rapid charge rates regardless of battery capacity.
At the moment the other details of the smartphone are a mystery, however, we have more information leaks as we get closer to the date of its official announcement in China.
