WWE 2K25’s The Island Mode Brings PvP, Quests & Rewards

WWE 2K25 recently received a gameplay trailer showcasing its new mode, The Island, which will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Following the trailer’s release, 2K provided a detailed breakdown on its website, explaining how the mode functions and what players can expect.

As spruced up in 2K’s press materials and Paul Heyman-narrated gameplay trailer, The Island mode is a WWE-themed online ground that can accommodate up to 50 players. It is an open world of sorts, featuring wrestling-themed activities and assignments by which to gather the approval of Roman Reigns, a.k.a The Tribal Chief. Players start with the creation of their MySUPERSTAR, deciding things like body type, gender, origin, and move-set. After customization, they can explore four unique districts, each with a distinct theme:

• Hero HQ: A superhero-inspired area celebrating WWE’s most iconic heroes, often under threat from legendary villains.
• The Arcade of Tomorrow: A cyberpunk-themed district featuring arcade games and food spots.
• The Temple of the Ancestors: A tribute to Lucha libre culture and its legendary wrestlers.
• The Deadlands: A supernatural-themed zone with eerie chapels, graveyards, and spectral figures.

Completing quests and competing in matches grants XP and VC, used to enhance attributes and purchase upgrades. Also, badges are good for some stat boosts, and victories in PvP become your rank progression from Bronze to Diamond. Customization is purely cosmetic, though, with gear available from well-known brands like Nike, Puma, and WWE Shop. Any cosmetics you have unlocked in The Island mode are also usable in the main game’s Create-A-Superstar mode.

The Island will have a single-player story that encompasses five chapters, to be rolled out over time with free updates after launch. The players need to finish the quests assigned by the WWE superstars to get Roman Reigns’ recognition. Making the most of next-gen console limitations, The Island is just one of many ambitious features coming in WWE 2K25’s 300-wrestler roster, intergender matches, and new gameplay modes.
