As per various reports, the details of voting for the FIFA Best Men’s Player award has been revealed which is almost customary. However, there are various interesting revelations as well. National team captains, as well as the coaches and the media members from each country in FIFA, were asked to choose their votes for the top three players in 2021. The votes given by the captains as well as the coaches accounted for 25 per cent of the final vote.
The votes from the captains and coaches for the FIFA Best Men’s Player of the year 2021
Surprisingly but not surprisingly, Robert Lewandowski from Poland won the most votes of being the FIFA Men’s Player of 2021, for the second straight year, beating Mohamed Salah, and even Lionel Messi. However, Messi got many votes in the pole but still was not able to secure the second and third positions, which were gained by Jorginho from Chelsea and Cristiano Ronaldo respectively.
The own votes of Lionel Messi went to his club teammates, i.e., Neymar along with Kylian Mbappe, following Karim Benzema who secured the third position. On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo saved his votes for Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and the eventual winner Robert Lewandowski.
Fernando Santos not voting Ronaldo
If seen, in most cases the managers who have been associated with clubs at present will generally vote their captains. However, in this instance, Fernando Santos didn’t do the same as he excluded Ronaldo. Instead of that work, Ronaldo took the pledge of voting Jorginho, Kante, and Lewandowski, like the same as his captain did.
As per reports, MARCA was in charge of representing the Spanish vote and did via Juan Ignacio Gallardo, the Editor-in-Chief, who voted Robert Lewandowski in the first place and then Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema respectively.
