The Valorant community has long relied on Jett while waiting for a new dominant duelist to shake up the meta. That wait has finally come to an end with the launch of Waylay, Agent 28. This rainbow-hued duelist packs a high-intensity, aggressive style, looking to supplant Jett or Raze in team comps. Riot Games designer June Cuervo calls Waylay the “space-taking duelist,” and she thrives on fighting with her unique counterpunch abilities. If you want to get good at her, here’s a breakdown of her entire kit.

Valorant Agent 28 Waylay Joins the Fight with Prismatic Abilities, Bringing a New Playstyle to Duelist Role

Waylay’s Saturate (C) skill sends out a burst of light and explodes on impact applying a debuff (Hindering) to the enemies. This slows their movement and weapon handling substantially, so it works wonders for starting fights. Unlike Neon’s concussion ability, Saturate activates faster and detonates immediately, forcing enemies to push or back off on-site.

Light Speed (Q) is an enhanced movement ability, offering better mobility than Jett’s dash. Players can jump in multiple directions after activating Waylay’s prismatic energy. If the FIRE button is pressed twice, it will execute a double dash, but the ALT FIRE button will execute a dash. The first dash can now also be angled up, a massive shift in the way duelists such as Jett and Raze are played.

Refract (E): Waylay marks a spot with a light beacon that serves as a teleport point. A timer becomes visible on the screen, and players are able to reactivate the ability before it expires to return to the marked spot as an invulnerable streak of light. This merges elements of Chamber’s teleport and Yoru’s anchor recall, enabling Waylay to get out of a tough spot in an instant.

Waylay’s Convergent Paths (X) is an ultimate that focuses on disrupting enemies rather than dealing damage. When activated, she channels prismatic energy and fires a luminous afterimage beam that passes through walls, similar to Breach’s concuss or Phoenix’s wall. This beam applies the Hindering debuff to any enemies caught in its path, reducing their effectiveness in fights while boosting Waylay’s speed for an aggressive follow-up.
