The upcoming Qualcomm chip is already making some headlines all over the internet – from which smartphone will be the first to sport this flagship SoC to which manufacturing node or maker of Snapdragon 895 will it be.
It is already rumoured that the chipset has already entered the testing phase. It means that Qualcomm will likely announce the Snapdragon 895 in time while prepping shipments for its multiple smartphone partners. While there are rumours that Lenovo might be the first to launch Snapdragon 895 chip this year, the Realme GT 2 could end up sporting this flagship SoC.
From what we know so far, the Snapdragon 895 will support the new ArmV9 architecture, along with sporting Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon X65 5G modem. Also, it is said that the baseband chip is said to be integrated, so there will be improved power efficiency from the SoC as opposed to Qualcomm providing a separate 5G modem for its phone partners.Â
As per the reliable tipster @UniverseIce, the Snapdragon 895 will be using Samsung’s 4nm node and that goes in-line with the multiple rumours we have got regarding the SoC. However, intrestingly, the leaker believes the next Snapdragon 895+ would be again based out of TSMC’s 4nm node.
Maybe its because TSMC is full with Apple order and that’s why Qualcomm could end up continuing with Samsung for next iteration. Also, Samsung would be responsible for mass producing the next-gen Snapdragon X65 5G modem using its 4nm process node. TSMC, as we know, is not the most cost-effective option, and Samsung’s lucrative deal could have again tempted the San Diego firm.
