Tekken 7 and the term “crossover” have become almost inextricably linked during the game’s early years. Characters like Akuma from Street Fighter had already joined the game before its console release, and during the first two DLC seasons, we saw characters like Geese Howard (from Fatal Fury), Negan (from The Walking Dead), and Noctis (from Final Fantasy XV) enter the game.

Last year, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown was published on PlayStation 4 as an upscaled port of the previous version, Final Showdown. With returning characters like Akira, Wolf, and Kage, the game maintains the history of Sega’s legendary Virtua Fighter series. But now we have a crossover announcement, and it’s none other than Tekken from Bandai Namco.
A notification was found and later promoted on Twitter by Twitter user Mark Julio, and it’s to inform the world about the Virtua Fighter and Tekken 7 cooperation, which you can see below.
The best assumption would be crossover costumes for Akira and Lau Chan based on Tekken characters Kazuya and Heihachi, as well as the Mishima Dojo stage making an appearance in-game. This appears to be a follow-up to a recent update that included Yakuza-themed cosmetics for characters.
When it was unveiled at the end of last year, the game received 19 new costumes and 20 new Yakuza-themed tunes. 20 Virtua Fighter 3 songs were also included in the USD 9.99 bundle.

However, let us return to the Tekken crossover. We don’t know when these things will be available, or what their pricing will be (though it may be the same), but we’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available. The PlayStation 4 version of Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown is currently available. The rollback netcode is still missing from the game.
