Take-Two Gears Up for 2026 with Big Titles Like GTA 6 and Borderlands 4
Both of these titles are due to be released in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, which is also when GTA 6 will be launching according to Take-Two’s plan for its 2K label. GTA 6 is sometimes feared to overshadow Borderlands 4, though Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently said the two titles wouldn’t go head-to-head–at least not specifically. In an interview with Variety, he acknowledged that the company would not be scheduling any competing major releases too close together.
Borderlands 4 would then be scheduled for release in between, either April to June 2025 or January to March 2026, providing lots of space between the two blockbusters and GTA 6 if it also launches in fall 2025. That means Borderlands 4 could be released sometime between late spring-early summer of 2025 or late winter-early spring of 2026. Games like Borderlands 4 aren’t the only titles looking to escape the shadow of GTA 6.
2K’s Hangar 13 is also aiming to launch Mafia: The Old Country sometime in 2025, along with many other major titles. When GTA 6 drops in late 2025 it’ll be the biggest game release of all time, making even mainstay series such as Call of Duty look diminutive in comparison. Elsewhere, in the wake of closing Roll7 and Intercept Games, Take-Two’s indie publisher Private Division has been sold to an undisclosed buyer and the company is back to focusing on core and mobile businesses.
