GFA Games has announced an important update for their upcoming open-world, massively multiplayer first-person shooter game PIONER. Beta testing for the game was originally dated for 2023, but that never materialized. The narrative will be told through a series of quests that delve into the setting’s deep lore, letting players get behind the banner of diverging factions, each with their own unique characters, storylines, and rewards.
In PIONER, players will gain influence complete tasks, defeat monsters, and break ground on the exploration. As your influence increases, merchants will be more inclined to sell you better items, grant you higher quality materials, and even enhance non-combat skills. Players can engage in missions PvE, PvP arenas, golf, casino, fishing, and mini-games. There is also an extraction shooter mode in the Shadowlands, which are high-reward areas with unrestricted PvP but not among members of a faction or clan. All of those said, these zones are very loot-rich, but they carry risk.
The game also features clans that players can both join and create, the members of which can interact through chat or emotes and compete on clan leaderboards. On the PvE side, the launch will include six raids that will be a mix of open-world exploration and structured missions that will require teamwork to accomplish. PIONER features survival mechanics like hunger and fatigue management, and a crafting system that creates new gear using artifacts, anomalous energy, and materials.
