During Final Fantasy 14’s Fan Fest celebration, Square Enix announced its plans to continue bringing more of their upcoming games to Xbox. The news came during a program that included several important reveals for the enormously popular Final Fantasy MMORPG, including Dawntrail, the game’s newest expansion, and free trial upgrades.

During the festivities, producer Naoki Yoshida would be joined by Xbox CEO Phil Spencer to unveil an Xbox Series X/S console version of Final Fantasy 14. Square Enix would reveal its devotion to the Microsoft system during the festivities.

While Square Enix has launched many of its games on Xbox systems, the legendary JRPG developer’s most recent offerings often launch on PlayStation.

Final Fantasy 16 premiered as a timed PlayStation exclusive, with a Windows version slated to launch sometime after the game’s six-month exclusivity period. Other recent titles from the firm, such as Harvestella and Tactics Ogre Reborn, would also be released on Switch, with no Xbox versions planned. Square Enix appears to be strengthening its relationship with Xbox.

Yoshida and Spencer would be joined on stage by Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest event. Kiryu would confirm Square Enix’s plans to bring more of their titles to Xbox consoles in the future, beginning with the release of Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox in Spring 2024. The CEO stated that Square Enix plans to bring its titles to Xbox whenever possible, implying that the JRPG developer may see more new games released on Microsoft consoles as well. On Twitter, Phil Spencer expressed his delight about the newfound partnership with Square Enix.

Square Enix’s Xbox announcement at the event comes as the company has begun to release more titles for the Microsoft console in recent years. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion’s highly anticipated release late last year will see the game available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S at launch. When Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai launches in September, it will also be available for Xbox Series consoles on Day 1.
