South Africa has been phenomenal in this year’s World Cup, and they have proved it again by defeating the defending champions, England, this time. They have shown efficiency in both batting and bowling, especially the batting performance by South Africa has been destructive. It also reflected on their performance against England, where they defeated England by a huge margin of 229 runs.
South Africa defeating England by 229 runs
South Africa batted first and put up a mammoth score of 399, giving the Englishmen a target of 400 runs. Coming to the batting performance of the Men in Green, the man in form, Heinrich Klassen, hit a century and scored 109 of just 67 balls with 12 fours and four sixes. Also, the other batters of the team contributed brilliantly, in the likes of Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, and Marco Jansen, who scored well-made half-centuries. With the joint efforts of the batters, they put up a score of almost 400.
Not only do they performances in batting, but as mentioned, their day has been theirs’ in terms of bowling,, too. No batter of England was able to stand strong, and the South African bowlers continued to pick up wickets at frequent intervals. They bowled so well that their opposition got all out in 170, and South Africa eventually secured the win by 229 runs. The tailenders of the English team only batted well as Gus Atkinson scored 35 of 21 and Mark Wood scored a speedy 43 of 17 balls.
South Africa going well
South Africa has been doing brilliantly in this World Cup. Though they have faced a defeat, and that defeat surprisingly came against the Netherlands, apart from that exception, South Africa has been among the top contenders to win this World Cup. Though the favorite to win this tournament is the host, India and South Africa are also not far in this race.
In batting, there are giants like De Kock, David Miller, captain Aiden Markra, David Miller, and Klassen, and the bowling department has Rabada, Ngidi, Keshab Maharaj, etc. Hence, they are indeed very deserving to win this World Cup,, and if they keep going like this and continue the form they are in, it will be hard to stop them from winning the World Cup. Also, it should be noted that they have never won the World Cup but rather have gone close to the Cup on several occasions. It is to be seen what happens next.
