Shershaah is an upcoming biographical war film. It is directed by Vishnuvardhan and written by Sandeep Srivastava. The film was produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Shabbir Boxwala, Ajay Shah, and Himanshu Gandhi. Its production companies are Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment.
Shershaah movie is based on the life of Captain Batra, who was killed by the enemy by fire in order to rescue a fellow officer. Vikram died on 7th July 1999. This film is an attempt to celebrate the valiant spirit of the soldier and also to honor his sacrifice in the Kargil War 1999.

The trailer of Shershaah was released on Sunday evening i.e. 25th July 2021. The trailer was released from the heights of Kargil by featuring its lead Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani. The setting was absolutely perfect for the film as it is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra. The soldier, who famously said, “I’ll either come back after raising the Indian flag in victory or return wrapped in it, but I will come for sure,” before leaving for Kargil, was killed while fighting valiantly.
Sidharth while sharing the trailer of Shershaah wrote: “Captain Vikram Batra reporting on duty! The wait is finally over, I’m honored to present to you the legendary story of our Kargil War Hero.”
Shershaah’s trailer begins with the voice-over of Sidharth Malhotra who is playing the lead role of the film as Captain Vikram Batra. He told about how the life of an army man is the most respectable one and there is no discrimination between religion for them their love country is much more important. After that we see in the trailer that Sidharth is dressed up in an army uniform, and also sees a short glimpse of beautiful Kargil. Soon Sidharth and even also the other characters reveal the danger the place embodies. The film directly shows us the Kargil war, it makes the audience dive into it, which was fought in 1999 between India and Pakistan between May and July as troops and terrorists from across the border infiltrated into India.
The film mainly focused on the young man Captain Vikram Batra who is full of life and courage and stood up and defended their country in its hour of need. Vikram has fought the war at the forefront. Sidharth strikes a chord as Vikram Batra who is ready to live and die for India.
Through this movie, we will also be going to see the love story of Captain Vikram Batra. The film also stars Kiara Advani as Dimple Cheema. Dimple was the fiancee of Vikram and was his biggest strength. She did not marry after his death and lived his life as a widow. “yeh dil mange more,” wrote a fan, while another said, “Respect to the Kargil war hero.”
The team has flown to Kargil for the trailer launch. In a video, talking about his memory of Kargil, Sidharth shared, “I am really excited to be in Kargil where we shot for the action sequence of the film, second half, especially. It is sure a serene place to shoot. We shot tough action sequences in tough circumstances.”
