Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey which was all set to hit the theatres on 31st December has been put on hold, concerning the rising Covid 19 cases and tension regarding the omicron variant. A statement from the makers read that the film release has been postponed because of the “new Covid guidelines.”
Jersey Postponed: What Did the Makers Say?
The statement from the creators further clarified that concerning the new regulations for Covid 19, there’s a temporary hold on the release of Jersey. The love received from the fans so far has been amazing and they want to thank everyone for the constant support. The note concluded with a request to everyone for being safe and good wishes for the new year ahead!
Following the announcement for a yellow alert on Monday, Delhi closed down the theatres.
Jersey Cast and Initial Release Date
Initially, the film was set to have a theatrical release in 2020 but got postponed due to the first lockdown that occurred in the entire country. The film casts Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor in other important roles besides Shahid Kapoor as the main protagonist. The Gowtam Tinnanuri directed movie is a remake of the famous Telegu film featuring Nani in the lead role.
Shahid’s Words On Jersey’s Release
In an initial interview, Shahid spoke a few things regarding the audience’s return to the theatres and his film release. He said that the movie will find its place if it’s good. Shahid further added, the cinema halls had been closed for a long due to the pandemic and many movies were waiting to be released.
Even, some makers were unsure to release their movies fearing many films will hit the theatres together. But he firmly believes, it’s the firm conviction and deep passion inside that gets going. He concluded irrespective of the fact which film comes before the others each one of them had their destiny. The new release date for Jersey will be announced later.
