    Scarlett Johansson has sued Disney over ‘Black Widow’ release: Here are the reasons behind it

    Scarlett Johansson the star of ‘Black Widow’ has started a legal battle with Disney with the actor suing the company for breach of contract on Thursday.

    The case is all about the digital release of the above-mentioned Marvel film. The film was supposed to be released exclusively in cinemas, at least according to Johansson.

    She has filed the case in a Los Angeles court and stated that Disney has broken the terms of the exclusivity agreement that her salary was closely linked with.

    “Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel,” the suit read.

    Although Disney has hit back at the lawsuit and has given a statement released by the company suggesting that there was no legal basis for the case.

    “There is no merit whatsoever to this filing,” the statement read.

    “The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

    Black Widow is an upcoming American superhero-based film. It is based on the Marvel Comics character Black Widow written by Stan Lee Don Rico and Don Heck. It is directed by Cate Shortland, produced by Kevin Feige and its production company is Marvel studios, story by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson.
