Rajasthan Royals have been in brilliant form in this IPL campaign which is pretty clear from their performance in the opening two matches of the Indian Premier League. Also, fans got the chance to witness the first century of the present season which was done by Jos Buttler in 66 balls. RR set up a target of 193 for the loss of 8 wickets, and Mumbai Indians finished in 170 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Here are three factors that helped RR to pick up the win and go to the top of the points table.
A Century by Jos Buttler
The attacking mindset of Joss the Boss was the first thing that got MI on their back foot and the Royals did use the opportunity to its fullest. Starting the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Englishman scored 100 of 68 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes.
Contribution by the middle order
The RR players have also been brilliant in setting up their middle order and playing an impactful inning, Though Padikkal wasn’t able to perform well, skipper Sanju Samson and West Indian power-hitter Shimron Hetmyer both played their own part scoring 30 of 21, and 35 of 14 respectively. After Joss Buttler, it was their contribution, for which RR was able to put up a good target of 193 on the scoreboard.
Impressive bowling by RR
Though the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians fought their level best to chase down the target, RR bowlers didn’t allow their opposition to go past the finish line. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma played their part well, scoring 54 of 43 and 61 of 33 respectively, but the RR bowlers continued picking up wickets at regular intervals, which made the equation easy for them.
