“They always had in mind that at some point they would want to turn it into something good and now… Federer has decided that the moment has come to put this all up for auction.”

The collection will be shown in Hong Kong until Tuesday. It will showcase the items which cover 21 years of Federer’s career, Muller told AFP at a pre-sale exhibition of the auction lots in Zurich.

The auction includes the cardigan and racquet used by Federer, which he won in Wimbledon Crown in 2012, the seventh of his record eighth men’s singles titles on the All England Club grass. The set is priced at 40,000 pounds to 60,000 pounds.

The collection also includes the outfit which Federer has worn in the 2019 Davis Cup, and that leads him to victory. His signed shirts and sneakers are also parts of the sale that comes from his comeback events.

Despite his 40th birthday, which is after 3 months and his long absence from sports, he ranked eighth in the world. After recovering from double knee surgery, Federer returned to the courts in March, winning his first match but failed to win the second one at the Doha tournament.

This win followed Federer to complete the set of having won of all four Grand Slams. “This lot is one of my favorites, not just because it is exciting in terms of the story behind it and finalizing his career Slam, but also in terms of the objects that are being offered,” said Mueller.

“So apart from shirts and shorts, you would also have the sneakers and the racquets, which still show traces of the orange clay at Roland-Garros.”

He recently played in this weak Geneva’s warm-up tournament. However, he showed his glimpses of old magic but still now lacking match sharpness and faced difficulties at the very beginning of the attempt on Tuesday.
