The upcoming pay-per-view of the WWE, i.e., WWE Summerslam, is a few days away, and speculations are rising that WWE legend, and one of the biggest Hollywood movie stars, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, might be making his return at the event. And not only that, his return could possibly make one of the dreams of all WWE fans come true by gifting us the most anticipated match in WWE for years, i.e., Rock vs Roman.
Though there’s no official confirmation regarding this, just a rumor that the Rock could make his return to the company and face off against the Head of the Table Roman Reigns, and the battle of ages might become a reality soon.
Is the Rock going to return?
The return of the most electrifying man in all of sports entertainment has been a matter of speculation for years not but has never actually happened. On the other hand, WWE at present is experiencing the time of its life, as it is making very big in terms of making sales and profits, and to give it an acceleration, it would certainly be perfect timing for the Rock to show up. Additionally, with the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike providing some free time for the Hollywood star, the stars seem to align for a potential confrontation at the upcoming premium live event.
The match might take place at Summerslam itself?
In a recent interview, the Tribal Chief stated that he sees no one that can dethrone him and also mentioned his dominance over big athletes like Brock Lesner and even John Cena, who has a big background in Hollywood as well. However, it is certainly a thing to see if Roman Reigns’s confidence stays intact if the Rock really shows up at Summerslam. People, as well as the Needle Mover, will certainly go nuts if the Brahma Bull makes his return to the biggest event of the summer.
Also, the dream match between the Rock and Roman Reigns is also speculated for the upcoming Wrestlemania, and Summerslam is certainly the best place to start the rivalry.
What led to the speculation of the Rock coming back?
Hints of the Rock might come back came from Grayson Waller’s heated Twitter battle with The Rock and his attempt to emulate The People’s Elbow against Jey Uso, on a recent episode of SmackDown, with Roman Reigns in attendance. Commentator Michael Cole also stated Waller mocking the People’s Champion, and the eagle-eyed fans have considered that the former WWE Champion could make a return in this regard, and a possible match could also take place between him and Roman.
However, even if the Rock makes his return at the PLE, a match between them at the event might not be happening, as Reigns is already set to defend his title against his cousin Jey Uso. As mentioned earlier, this can take up to Wrestlemania, with the rivalry beginning from Summerslam.
