Remedy Entertainment gave an update on Alan Wake 2, which has entered the full production phase of development ahead of a 2023 release date, but that’s far from the only project the studio is working on. There’s also their Control spinoff (Codename Condor), full-fledged Control sequel (Project Heron), Tencent-published co-op title (Codename Vanguard), and Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes.
The remedy provided additional details on their backlog of projects beyond Alan Wake 2 as part of their most recent financial results. Vanguard and Condor have both completed their “proof-of-concept” phases, while Heron is still in the conceptual prototype stage.
Since the previous quarter, Codename Vanguard, a free-to-play cooperative game co-published with Tencent, has achieved significant progress. The project is now undergoing proof-of-concept testing. The team has been strengthened further. Our work in Sweden has benefited Vanguard and other projects.
Codename Condor, a Control spin-off, is still in the proof-of-concept stage. A larger Control game, Codename Heron, is still in the concept stage, with a prototype underway. Additionally, the focus has been on establishing the essential technology and tools with the Northlight-technology team, which will serve a variety of Remedy games in the future.
As for Max Payne, it doesn’t appear that any serious work on the project has started yet. According to Remedy, the company’s focus will now be on hunkering down and finishing the many projects on its plate, with a succession of significant releases planned from 2023 to 2025. We don’t know when Remedy’s current slate will be released, but it appears like Alan Wake 2 will be followed by Project Vanguard, Control offshoot, Control sequel, and Max Payne remakes.
