The Spanish club wants to honor the Swiss legend by hosting this high-octane tennis match.

Roger Federer has taken the sports world by storm with his decision to retire shortly after the Laver Cup, which runs from September 23rd-25th. Since then, the sporting community has paid tribute to the Swiss legend, who has won 20 Grand Slam titles.

Rafael Nadal, Federer’s archrival for the past two decades, also wrote an emotional note in tribute to the 41-year-old Federer.

“Dear Roger, my friend, and rival. I wish this day would have never come. It’s a sad day for me personally and for sports around the world. It’s been a pleasure but also an honor and privilege to share all these years with you, living so many amazing moments on and off the court,” tweeted the Spanish player.

The clash between Federer and Nadal on the tennis court will remain one of the greatest on-court rivalries in the history of the sport. Both players have been involved in some of the greatest tennis matches in history, and Real Madrid is planning to host an epic competition to celebrate their esteemed rivalry, perhaps facing off for the final time.

Rafael Nadal, himself a Spaniard, was an avid supporter of Real Madrid. In his autobiography, he revealed that wherever he is in the world, regardless of his tennis schedule, he always wakes up to watch Real Madrid’s matches.

So if the club is planning to host this big tournament, Nadal is probably already doing the part too, and since both players share a great relationship off the field, it’s time to ask Federer to agree to the proposal.

The Real Madrid Stadium Undergoing Renovations

The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is currently being renovated, however, once the stadium is fully completed, planning for this legendary tennis event is sure to attract record numbers of spectators.

For now, however, both Federer and Nadal are focused on the next Laver cup and will be seen playing together for Team Europe. In addition to Nadal and Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will also play for Team Europe. This will be the first time tennis’ ‘Big Four’ will be competing together at the Laver Cup.
