Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Supergiants to secure 10 points overall, and move to the second position in the IPL points table. Also, huge credit goes to skipper Faf du Plessis, for his captain’s knock, and also to the RCB bowlers. They batted first and put up 181 for the loss of 6 wickets on the scoreboard, and limited LSG within 163 only, picking up 8 wickets of them. Here are 3 major factors that led the former to win the battle at the DY Patil Stadium.
Captain’s knock by Du Plessis
RCB batters were not able to stand for long, and they got out at infrequent intervals. The next highest score after Du Plessis’ is Shahbaz Ahmed’s 26 of 22 balls. The RCB captain scored 96 of 64 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes, with a strike rate of 150. His innings helped RCB to put up a big total of 181, and defeat LSG with a good margin of 18 runs.
Josh Hazlewood’s 4 wicket haul
Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood showed why he is one of the best in this business in the match, as he picked up 4 crucial wickets of Quinton de Kock, Manish Pandey, Ayush Badoni, and Marcus Stoinis. At some points in time, it looked like LSG would easily win the match, but Hazlewood never permitted the Supergiants to make their dream come true.
Tight bowling by the RCB bowlers
Apart from Josh Hazlewood bowling brilliantly, other RCB bowlers did handle their business well too. Though Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel were a bit costly, the others including Siraj, Maxwell, and Shahbaz Ahmed bowled well. Even Harshal Patel despite going for runs, picked up 2 important wickets of KL Rahul, and Jason Holder.
