RCB secured a necessary win against CSK and secured 2 crucial points, moving to the 4th position of the IPL points table. It was overall a team effort by RCB, that didn’t allow the four-time IPL champions to get past the victory line, and hence secured the win. Bangalore batted first and put up 173 on the scoreboard with the loss of 8 wickets. CSK coming to bat in the second innings was limited to 160 only, and lost8 of their batsmen, thus RCB gaining the victory by 13 runs. Here are three facts to consider which led Bangalore to victory.
The opening partnership of Kohli and Du Plessis
Though Virat Kohli didn’t play an impactful inning, the way he built his one, as well as the partnership with Faf du Plessis, was indeed remarkable. Kohli scored 30 of 33 balls with 3 fours and a six, and Du Plessis scored 38 of 22 deliveries with 4 fours and a six, and the opening partnership was very important for RCB to get to a good fighting total of 173.
Contribution by the RCB middle order
After the departure of Kohli and Du Plessis, RCB’s middle order also did well. Though Glenn Maxwell wasn’t able to deliver much in this match, Mahipal Lomror debuting for RCB played an impressive inning of 42 of 27 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Besides, the innings of Rajat Patidar (21 of 15 with 1 four and a six), and Dinesh Karthik (26 of 17 with 1 four and 2 sixes), led RCB to a target of 170.
Contribution by the bowlers
Another great factor that led Royal Challengers Bangalore towards victory was their bowling performance. Though Mohammed Siraj wasn’t able to perform well, apart from him, every bowler who bowled picked up wickets, and Glenn Maxwell, and Josh Hazlewood were very economical too.
