I-League new entrants Rajasthan United have signed the deal with former ATK Mohun Bagan, Hyderabad FC and Odisha FC superstar Marcelinho Pereira, before the approaching 2021-22 season. The Brazilian star hence will appear for the sixth time in this Indian football league.
Marcelinho Pereira To Feature for the Sixth Time
A source informed, Pereira has been looking to be back in the country and analysing the offers he’s been getting from the Indian clubs since the end of ISL 2020-21. Rajasthan United has been very excited to bring him back to the country and now he will be making his 6th appearance in the season.
The 34-year old Brazilian star has played 79 ISL matches and scored 33 goals so far. He has 18 assists in his cabinet, making way to third position in the all-time ISL assists chart table. In the last ISL season, he played for Odisha FC initially. Then he got shifted to ATK Mohun Bagan during the window transfer panel, through the loan contract.
After the end of the season, the Brazilian appeared for Todos FC, the Greek club. After five consecutive seasons in the ISL, it might appear that he’s having a step down to the league with the new entrants. However, the league newcomers are no pushovers as significant from their performance in the I-league qualifiers.
Preparations On For Rajasthan United
Many didn’t expect that RUFC had any chance to win the I-league qualifiers before the competition. However, they were undefeated throughout and made it to the main league.
Captained by head coach Vikrant Sharma, the club are actively preparing for the league. They are on the mission to include reinforcements in their squad to put an impressive performance in the league. The fixtures for the 2021-22 season are yet to be declared.
