Qatar World Cup 2022 grand inauguration: Ecuador seals victory in the opening match

    For the first time in History, the grand football World Cup is taking place in the Middle East. Yesterday, on 20th November, the event had its enormous opening followed by the opening match between the hosts and Ecuador.

    The Al Bida Fan Park in Doha with a staggering capacity of 40,000 people saw some extraordinary excitement yesterday at the Qatar World Cup grand ceremony. More people than the stipulated seats were trying to enter, forcing the police to gradually intervene. According to one fan, “It was dangerous.” 

    During the ceremony, performers were holding up the national flag. World Cup mascot La’eeb was seen during the ceremony and fireworks exploded around the stadium to get the dazzling feel.

    The South-Korean star singer and songwriter and youngest member of the BTS, 25-year-old Jung Kook got massive hype after his performance in the graceful Qatar World Cup opening ceremony. 

    The 20-year-old Qatari YouTuber Ghanim Al Muftah featured alongside Morgan Freeman, to demonstrate “hope, jubilation, and respect.” A politics student at Loughborough University, he was born without his body’s lower half. Famous for his motivational speeches and social media presence to raise awareness of this condition, his appearance at the opening event was indeed precious.

    Ecuador seals 2-0 victory over the hosts

    Followed by the splendid opening ceremony of the Qatar World Cup, it was the game between Qatar and Ecuador, the former being the first host nation to be a World Cup debutant since Italy in 1934. The Ecuador captain Valencia was excellent and in massive form, devastating the opponent’s defence smoothly. Converting a penalty in the 16th minute to a well-crafted goal followed by a header in the 31st minute, was a treat to the eyes of Ecuador fans.

    Currently, Ecuador stands number 1 in group A, which also has Netherlands and Senegal.
