The badminton queen of India, finished third at the Tokyo Olympics, winning the bronze medal. She defeated He Bing Jiao of China in straight games of 21-13 and 21-15. She fully dominated her opponent in this match, and with this win, she became the fourth badminton player to win two Olympic medals.
An achievement for PV Sindhu
The match, where Sindhu sealed her victory, lasted for long 52 minutes. This is the second medal of PV Sindhu, the first came on the 2016 Rio Olympics, which was silver. At the age of only 26, she not only became the fourth badminton player to achieve the feat of winning two Olympic medals, but she also became the second Indian athlete to do so.
The first Indian to do this was Sushil Kumar, who won two consecutive medals in Tokyo Olympics with a bronze and a silver in 2008 and 2012 respectively.
Sindhu’s performance in the match
Though Sindhu dominated the game, both of them overall, showed their brilliance in the match. And as a consequence, the game lasted for nearly 1 hour.
In the first game, Sindhu was a bit ahead and assured that Bing Jiao won’t stand a chance. Though the Chinese played some good shots as well. But at the end, Sindhu roared at the end of the first game. Sindhu continued to show her consistency in the second set as well. This time also, the Chinese athlete tried to do a good fight, scoring 15 points. But Sindhu was soon 6 points ahead of her, sealing her victory by 21-15.
Though Sindhu, lost the chance of winning a gold medal or silver, as she got a defeat against Tai Tzu-Ying of China. However, this win of her is nonetheless, and she has already created a record and a history as well, being the second Indian athlete to win two medals. Besides, except the semi-final match of Sindhu, she dominated her opponents in all other games, defeating all of them by straight sets.`
