Premier League have the most players playing in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, followed by La Liga

    The upcoming 2022 World Cup is going to be super exciting and unique. Happening in winter for the first time, it’s scheduled between November and December. It’s also the costliest tournament in history, as Qatar has invested around 200 billion dollars to host it.

    The country’s regime is under scrutiny concerning their award of the tournament, the supposed death of workers, and human rights breaches. Also, most of the big football stars will be present in the Premier League influencing the call-ups.

    Premier League to have most players at Qatar 2022 World Cup

    Premier League will have the highest number of representatives in this World Cup with 134 participants. There’ll be 16 players from Manchester City and 14 from their rivals Manchester United.

    LaLiga Santander will have 84 players in the World Cup where Barcelona and Real Madrid will represent 16 and 13 players, respectively. There are teams too with no players in the tournament like Girona and Elche. 

    Again, all Premier League teams have a minimum of one representative each in the tournament. 

    The Bundesliga comes third with 73 players set out for Qatar, but they have the team with the highest number of players in the tournament in Bayern Munich i.e., 17.

    Serie A (66) and Ligue 1 (52) follow the German League, with MLS being the non-European league with the maximum number of representatives (35).

    The youngest and oldest players of the tournament

    Alfredo Talavera is the oldest player in the tournament. He turned 40 on September 18. 18-year-old Youssoufa Moukoko is the youngest player to play in the Qatar World Cup. 

    18-year-old Barcelona midfielder Gavi will be the youngest LaLiga player in the World Cup, with Real Madrid’s Luka Modric being the most aged (37) in this regard.

    Manchester United’s 20-year-old Facundo Pellistri is the youngest Premier League player to play in the competition and Chelsea and Brazil center-back Thiago Silva (38) is the oldest. 

    Iran is the only team to not fill all the 26 available slots after Carlos Queiroz names a 25-man squad. 

    Tunisia and Switzerland are the only teams to go with four goalkeepers while Denmark went for only two goalkeepers and 24 outfielders.
