Even though Manchester City is on set to win their fourth Premier League title, manager Pep Guardiola has shockingly hinted that he may be planning to leave the club.
Manchester City is presently in third place in the Premier League, one point behind Liverpool and two behind Chelsea. With a match against Crystal Palace scheduled for Saturday afternoon, Guardiola will be looking to keep his side’s outstanding form going.
Despite having had a genuinely extraordinary and tremendously successful five years in command of the Citizens, Guardiola, who has won ten major trophies, has hinted at a day when he would say goodbye to the Manchester faithful.
When asked if he saw himself in charge for another 200 domestic games during a scheduled press conference on Friday, the Spanish tactician replied, “No, I don’t think so.”
Pep also stated at the XP Investimentos event, as reported by Brazilian website Globo, that his next move will be to manage a national team, but that he will need a break first after spending seven years at City. He expressed his desire to coach in a European Championship, a Copa America, or a World Cup.
Pep Guardiola has spent the past five seasons with Manchester City, and now in his sixth season, he has intimated that he may leave when his current contract expires. After signing a two-year contract extension in November 2020, his current contract will expire in 2023, making him the longest-serving manager in the club’s history.
He was asked if he could take over as coach of the Brazilian national team, to which he said that they are a terrific team and that he considers them a strong contender for all tournaments in which they compete.
