    Spanish footballer Pablo Mari undergoes surgery after stabbing incident in Italy supermarket

    Pablo Mari had a life-threatening terror. The defender of Serie A club Monza was one of five people involved in a mass stabbing by a man with mental health problems at a shopping center in Assago, on the outskirts of Milan. 

    While walking through the store with my wife and son, Pablo Mari was conscious after being stabbed in the back, informed Marca. He was taken by helicopter to the hospital, talking to his relatives, but he was a little dizzy and very scared when he was taken to the health center.

    In addition to the former Arsenal footballer, four other people were stabbed, two of them in critical condition.

    Italian authorities do not consider it a terrorist attack, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport. The 46-year-old man who stabbed him was mentally ill and has already been arrested.

    The 29-year-old Spaniard has been on loan at Monza for a season and is expected to be out for at least two months following successful surgery to reconstruct two damaged back muscles.

    On Pablo Mari’s condition

    Mari was one of six victims in a knife attack at a Carrefour supermarket in Assago, near Milan, on Thursday night. In Italy, one person, believed to be a store employee, was reported dead from his injuries.

    “A mentally unstable man decided to stab people. One person has died and four are now seriously injured,” said a police spokesman.

    “We are all shocked to hear the dreadful news about the stabbing in Italy, which has put a number of people in hospital including our on-loan center-back Pablo Mari,” Arsenal stated.

    “We have been in contact with Pablo’s agent who has told us he’s in hospital and is not seriously hurt.

    “Our thoughts are with Pablo and the other victims of this dreadful incident,” the statement read.
