Overwatch 2 presents players with yet another enigma to unravel. As a new trailer for its upcoming witch-focused season, Spellbinder comes to an end—flying over a drawling spawn room on top of one of the game’s current maps—you can hear the voice of another hero.

Showcasing graffiti in the spawn room of the Oasis map, a voice identified by YouTube captions as a “Scottish man” says, “It’s starting to look like a revolution. Designed with phrases like “Fight Back” and “Phreaks,” the walls are splattered with what looks like a burst of purple crystal shards.
It almost looks like something out of an Overwatch hero, only here the shards are scattered about. A former Overwatch dev told me the name of this hero last year: Spiker, though that sounds like an internal nickname, just like Juno was called Space Ranger before she was announced. All in all, these shards embrace what this new tank character is all about.
It’s an old image of a version of Overwatch hero Phreak sporting a mohawk, originally created for the aborted MMO Titan. What is arguably more interesting is that a trio of characters starred in the original cinematic trailer known as “Phreaks”. The hero could have also been renamed to represent this group of anarchists.
Viewers with a good memory could barely make out a tank hero icon showing bright green spikey hair in footage from last year’s BlizzCon, one of the characters featured in the cinematic trailer and coincidentally having matching graffiti colors in the new teaser. This new tank hero is a complete mystery at the moment and won’t be out until Season 14. That said, Blizzard may end up offering players an early period to start using it a few days into Season 13 like what it did with past characters Juno and Venture.
In the meantime, Season 13 came with a lot of goodies of its own for players to check out, several wicked witch skins including an upgradable mythic Widowmaker skin, and a new PvP mode that introduces “talent cards” which change how hero abilities work. The trailer showcases Reinhardt triggering an explosion during a charge, Moira launching three life-draining orbs simultaneously, and Reaper collecting health orbs after each kill, reminiscent of gameplay from 2016.
