The India vs New Zealand series is getting too attractive at this point. On the one hand, Tim Southee achieved his 200th scalp whereas Washington Sundar became the fastest 30+ scorer on the soil of New Zealand. He shattered the 12-year-old record of Suresh Raina.
Southee became the fifth bowler from New Zealand after Chris Cairns, Chris Harris, Kyle Mills, and Daniel Vettori picked up 200 wickets in ODI. He picked 202 wickets and is just two away from Chris Harris total tally of 203 scalps and soon he will become the highest wicket-taker fro New Zealand in ODI.
In fact, the Kiwi bowler became the first bowler to scalp more than 300 wickets in tests, more than 200 in ODIs, and more than 100 in T20Is. In Tests, he has bagged a total of 347 wickets and is the leading wicket-taker in T20Is with 134 scaps.
Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar mustered an unbeaten 37 off 16 deliveries. He broke Suresh Raina’s record to become the fastest Indian to pile up 30+ runs on New Zealand’s soil.
His innings helped the men in a blue post with a total of 306 runs in 50 overs. Besides him, Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer’s half-centuries contributed to the team’s total score.
“It was great to get some runs. I have to let my instincts go through, I also plan my shots, there’s a program. It’s important to get the timing right, along with the power. It’s a par score, if we bowl well we’ll be able to win this,” said the cricketer while talking to Prime Video during the innings break” he said
He seemed to be elated with his performance stressed on “timing” and “power”.
