Recently, Time Magazine released the 100 Most Influential People List for 2021 and among those 100 people only a few were influencers from the tech world. Basically you have only three tech CEOs on the list, one being the person who created the graphics conglomerate and the other two being Elon Musk and Tim Cook.
Well, you have the likes of Simone Biles, Britney Spears, and crypto pioneer Vitalik Buterin in the Top 100 along with a lot of Indian people as well. However, Jensen’s entry into the Time’s 100 Most Influential People List is in itself a huge deal as he has been nominated as one of the best Innovators.
This is a no brainer as Nvidia has completely overturned the graphics performance with Ampere architecture while their RTX 30-series GPUs are still selling like hotcakes in the market. However, apart from his achievements in the gaming industry, Huang is included in the Time list for the company’s work enabling AI through neural networks.
“The software that enables computers to do things that once required human perception and judgment depends largely on hardware made possible by Jensen Huang,” reads the Time profile written by DeepLearning. AI founder Andrew Ng. “With still emerging AI technologies creating an insatiable hunger for more computation, Huang’s team is well-positioned to keep driving technological advances for decades to come.”
Well, apart from its achievements in AI, neural networks and machine learning NVIDIA’s latest GPUs have been a part of the mining industry that is not slowing. In fact, the mention of Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin in the list obviously involves the popularity of cryptocurrency these days and NVIDIA’s GPUs are still the best for mining.
Though NVIDIA crippled its new RTX 30-series GPUs for mining with LHR algorithms to stand against mining and then again launching its own mining-centric GPUs into the market. So, though Huang’s entry into the Time’s 100 Most Influential People List is in itself a huge boost considering his company’s fame, it isn’t surprising.
