The cricketers of New Zealand now have an open choice of playing for their nation or IPL. The next season of IPL clashes with New Zealand’s tour with Pakistan so here also they have the option to play only one tournament.
The Kiwis will be visiting Pakistan in two phases and play all three formats of the game during Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. The games are going to take place in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
The schedule was announced a couple of days ago. Kane Williamson, the Kiwis skipper is very excited about the multi-format series.
“As of our understanding, our full-strength side will go to Pakistan. I haven’t talked to players and their associations further in this regard. But, players will be allowed to play in the IPL. They will be free to make a choice between the IPL and the Pakistan tour,” David White stated.
Talking about Pakistan’s security, he added “Our delegation visited Pakistan earlierr this year. We are in contact with the embassy and our government about this tour.”
In 2021, the Kiwis didn’t go for the Pakistan tour to play an ODI series due to security reasons. The teams participated in a tri-nation series along with Bangladesh. Both New Zealand and Pakistan have faced each other twice in the tri-series. New Zealand and Pakistan have faced each other twice in the tri-series. Pakistan won the first round and New Zealand won the second.
Both teams will meet each other in the upcoming T20 World Cup starting on October 16.
New Zealand will be touring Pakistan for the first time since 2002. They did land in Pakistan in 2021 but didn’t play due to their first ODI due to a security alert.
