Nearly 400,000 Nintendo Switch 2 Units Reportedly Shipped to North America Ahead of Rumored Summer Launch

Altogether, some 383,000 consoles are said to hold the USZ region code, signifying they are for the US and Canada markets. Peripheral shipments also now seem to be underway, with a charging grip that has the product code BEE-A-ESSKA—echoing the original Switch’s HAC-A-ESSKA grip pattern. LiC observed that the Vietnam-based manufacturer HVBG had shipped 383,000 units, as well as 41,598 charging grips, between January 17 and January 22. So now, HVBG is reportedly gathering all parts from other suppliers to assemble the Switch 2, including displays, buttons, SoCs, and more.

According to the company, it had received 1.2 million SoCs and screens by December, with another 1.7 million arriving in January. Those shipments indicate that Nintendo is trying to avoid a stock shortage in anticipation of the console’s as-yet-unannounced launch date. The Switch 2 was officially revealed by Nintendo in January within a video that has now gone pretty viral — the first look clip on Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel has over 21 million views.

The reveal highlighted a refined design for the console, favoring a muted look over its predecessor. Where the JoyCons are bathed in bright red and blue, these colors are now subdued accents along the edge and around the analog sticks. The Switch 2 also features a larger display and introduces a new magnet-based JoyCon attachment system. A mysterious “C” button has been added to the controllers, though its function remains unknown. The console’s dock has been redesigned with rounded corners and a lower-profile structure, keeping more of the device visible while docked.
