Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is considering selling the club since his term has failed to achieve the club’s lofty aims.

About the Club

Everton is a Liverpool-based English professional football team that competes in the Premier League, the highest level of English football. It has been in the English top division for the second-longest time and is now ranked third all-time in terms of points. Nine league titles, five FA Cups, one European Cup Winners’ Cup, and nine Charity Shields have been won by the club.

Everton won two more League Championships, one FA Cup, and the 1985 European Cup Winners’ Cup during a run of continuous success in the mid-1980s. The 1995 FA Cup was the club’s most recent major trophy. Everton has remained in the Premier League since then, albeit without winning any big prizes or finishing second.

Moshiri sold his stake in Arsenal Football Club to Red & White Holdings partner Usmanov in February 2016 to fund capital for a takeover effort at Everton Football Club. The club formally confirmed Moshiri’s purchase of a 49.9% share in the club on February 27, which was validated by the Premier League two weeks later. Moshiri has a net worth of £2 billion, according to the Sunday Times Rich List from 2021.

Club up for Sale

The Iranian owns a 90 percent ownership in the club and has invested 500 million euros, but that period may be coming to an end. Everton is currently valued at almost 400 million euros, so he would be making a substantial loss. However, since the team continues to struggle on the pitch, damage limitation may be the wisest choice.

According to The Sun, a group of potential buyers has approached the Iranian businessman, and an offer is being seriously evaluated. Everton recently parted company with coach Rafael Benitez, the latest in a long line of managers to be fired during his tenure, resulting in a payout of over 70 million euros.
