The Olympic athlete, who is on the lips of almost every Indian at present, is Mirabai Chanu. She became the first to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics for India, and, consequently, she is receiving praise from all over the nation, for her heroic deed.
Chanu achieved the second position in weightlifting, winning the silver medal at the 49 kg women’s weightlifting competition. She lifted a total of 202 kg weight in the competition.

Mirabai Chanu became first India, to win a medal for India, at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. And for her triumph, the 26-year-old is getting applause from numerous celebrities, including actors, political leaders, and fans as well. Moreover, for this glory, the Manipur Government delegated Mirabai Chanu as the Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports).
The present chief minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh, Secretariat in Imphal took this decision of empowering her with this position on Monday. Apart from that, the Manipur Government has also awarded her Rs.1 crore, for her accomplishment in the Tokyo event.
Inspiration for the upcoming generations
Mirabai Chanu, through her accomplishment, has gained a certain level, from where she has become the inspiration of millions. She came from the North-eastern part of India, from where generally not many people get recognition and has struggled throughout her journey, to achieve this feat. Her journey from being no one to one of those inspiring athletes is a glimpse of how much she is talented, as well as dedicated towards her work.
