Trailer
The trailer of the film Mimi has released today i.e. Tuesday 13th July 2021. This film is slightly different from the other Bollywood films. Mimi usually does not take up things very seriously. The theme is full of innocence and simplicity, laced with dollops of humour. Mimi is a small-town girl from Rajasthan, who got an offer of Rs 20 lakh to be a surrogate mother for an American couple. The middleman is Bhanu who in his impeccable style manages to convince both parties.
The only obstacle lies that how Mimi will hide her pregnant belly from her family and society at large. The film shows us that how surrogacy faces challenges and how society looks at it.
The film takes a turn when the couple withdraws their deal and refuses to accept the child. Mimi’s family thought that a pregnant unwedded daughter means it’s an illegitimate child. All this comes with a pinch of religious rivalry.
Cast
The film Mimi stars Kriti Sanon as Mimi, Pankaj Tripathi as Bhanu, Sai Tamhankar, Manoj Pahwa as Mimi’s father, Supriya Pathak as Mimi’s mother, Evelyn Edwards, Aidan Whytock, Jaya Bhattacharya as Doctor, Amardeep Jha. Special mention to Pankaj Tripathi who breaks the image of Kriti Sanon’s father from their previous film in Bareilly Ki Barfi, and now he is convincingly playing a small-town agent, who even plays the role of Mimi’s Partner in the film.
Speaking about Mimi, Kriti Sanon told PTI, “It’s not preachy or serious. It’s not like you are going to watch a film on surrogacy and it’s going to be a documentary film. It’s a very entertaining film, filled with humor, and a lot of ups and downs. There’s a beautiful graph of the woman I am playing, Mimi, where she wants to be an actress.”
Release Date
The film Mimi is going to release on 30th July 2021 on Netflix and Jio Cinema.
