Following his four years of sacking, Mickey Arthur is ready to be back again at Pakistan cricket. But this time, it’s on his own terms. That’s something that is surely interesting, and the World hasn’t witnessed it before. What’s that? Read on!
Mickey Arthur is set to become World’s First Online Cricket Coach
Pakistani media reports Mickey Arthur has agreed to coach Pakistan online. He’ll not be present at every series and will do so only in case he finds it necessary. He has agreed to coach Babar Azam and his team online.
That signifies he becomes the world’s first person to be a full-time online coach. However, whether he’ll be in a full-time role or be a consultant that’s yet to be discovered.
Reports suggest, following several requests from the PCB, Arthur has agreed to coach the Pakistan National team. Initially, he rejected the offer to come on board.
Arthur might not be present for in-between tournaments like the Asia Cup 2023, but he has given his word to be there on the ground for the 50-over World Cup 2023. He’ll have his contract till the end of the ODI World Cup in October.
Nazam Sethi said last week,
“I’m personally in negotiations with Mickey, and we have resolved 90 percent of issues. Hopefully, we will very soon share the news that Mickey will be joining us. I’d like him to build his own team of coaches once he is here.”
It was difficult to bring him onboard
PCB confirmed it was quite difficult to get him onboard. Despite several negotiations, it was getting tough for them to get a yes from Mickey Arthur to join Pakistan cricket as a full-time coach or a consultant on a contractual basis.
That being accomplished now, it’ll be interesting to see how things turn up between the first “Online” cricket coach and his team.
