The 22-year-old Dutch centre-back Matthijs de Ligt is currently on the radar of the German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. Bayern director Hasan Salihamidzic recently landed in Turin to talk about his transfer to the present Italian club Juventus.
Last Monday (11th July), Fabrizio Romano brought multiple reports about Bayern Munich’s progress to negotiate with Juventus for Matthijs de Ligt.

Bayern director Hasan Salihamidzic recently came to the Italian city Turin, where he also had a plan to meet with Juventus to talk about De Ligt’s potential transfer.
Romano earlier claimed that Bayern already talked with De Ligt in a positive manner. The Old Lady was waiting for the German club’s official bid for the Dutch centre-back.
During his leaving Turin for Munich, Hasan Salihamidzic said according to Romano’s report, “We will see, I can’t say anything about Matthijs de Ligt deal. Optimism? We’re always optimistic.”
Romano has further confirmed that there is no agreement yet between the two clubs for the Dutch defender. However, the two clubs are likely to contact again this week on this matter.
Many top European clubs want De Ligt this summer. Apart from Bayern, the English Premier League clubs Manchester City and Chelsea are also reportedly targeting this defender.
Who is Matthijs de Ligt?
Even at the age of under-21, Matthijs de Ligt stunned the football world with his consistent performances. He already won prestigious player trophies like the 2017/18 Johan Cruyff Trophy (Dutch Football Talent of the Year), 2018/19 Dutch Footballer of the Year, 2018 Golden Boy award (best young footballer playing in Europe voted by sports journalists) and 2019 Kopa Trophy (best U21 footballer during Ballon d’Or ceremony).

De Ligt left the Dutch club Ajax and joined Juventus in 2019 summer. His present contract with the Italian club can run till 2024 summer.
