    Trailer Insights

We have plenty of hints from the reveal trailer for Mario Kart 9. It showcased something closer to 24-player races, which would be twice the capacity of Mario Kart 8. The trailer further revealed bigger courses, as well as multiple-path tracks that evoke memories of tracks such as Yoshi’s Valley. There was also a glowing object of unknown origin, leading some to theorize a new gameplay mechanic — kart fuel systems, maybe?

Mario Kart 9 is also thought to be in development, and will likely become a Switch 2 exclusive on launch day.

    Development News

Mario Kart 9 is expected to be developed internally by Nintendo, with the same teams behind Mario Kart 8, Nintendo EAD, and Nintendo EPD, likely taking the lead. More details are expected to be unveiled during a special Nintendo Direct event on April 2, where Nintendo might share additional information about Mario Kart 9.

With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe being the best-selling Switch game, Mario Kart 9 has big shoes to fill, but its potential for new features and post-launch support has fans eagerly awaiting more details.
