Something very interesting going to happen in the electric scooter segment as Mahindra tries to entry in this race. India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has marked the entry in this Electric segment with Vida electric scooter. In the list, the next could be Mahindra which might start its innings along with Peugeot Kisbee electric scooter.
In these International markets like Europe, Peugeot Kisbee is a 50cc petrol-powered scooter. The new Peugeot has offered several other 50cc scooters in Europe like Django, Tweet, Speed fight, and Street zone. In India, both the ICE version and electric version of Kisbee getting spotted on the road tests. Peugeot might be working on a strategy that’s quite similar to Suzuki that also indicates to launch of an electric scooter based on such a popular Burgman Street 125cc scooter.
Mahindra Electric Scooter Spied
Peugeot is unable to sell an EV version of Kisbee in international markets. In this EV space, Peugeot just only has E-Ludox electric scooter, ICE followed by Kisbee that’s powered by a 49.9 cc motor that has generated 3.53 hp of peak power at 7,700 rpm and 3.2 Nm of maximum torque at 7,300 rpm.
The most interesting fact is Peugeot Kisbee electric scooter is also seen alongside Bounce Infinity E1 and Ather 450X. This can be a part of a benchmarking exercise. The Kisbee electric scooter getting assessed as just one of the most affordable and there is one premium electric scooter in this country.
The performance of the Mahindra Electric Scooter Spied Kisbee EV holds such capabilities as Bounce Infinity E1. There are Peugeot Kisbee can be positioned like a premium offering, it might have such hi-tech features as Ather 450X.
Peugeot already holds E-Ludix in international markets. We have some features and hardware that could be used for Kisbee electric scooter. The E-Ludix is equipped 1.6kWh, 48V lithium-ion removable battery pack. The e-scooter reaches a range of 42 km, and the top speed is 45 kmph. The scooter has tubular steel chassis, mounted on a telescopic front fork and hydraulic rear shock absorber. Both ends have 14-inch wheels. The scooter has offered front disc and rear drum brakes.
Mahindra-Peugeot Attachments
Mahindra already acquired the controlling 51% stake in Peugeot Motorcycles in January 2015. Now the deal getting valued at 28million Euros. Peugeot followed some concepts based on Mahindra Mojo 300’s engines. These had showcased at the 2019 EICMA. The further process on these projects had halted to the pandemic.
Due to increasing fuel prices both ICE-based Kisbee and the EV mode might get the customer’s attention. If Mahindra entered this sector, then both ICE-based Kisbee and the EV version will be in significant demand.
