Barcelona legend and current PSG superstar Lionel Messi is the one with the highest no of Ballon d’Or awards, 6. He is now hoping to win his 7th Ballon d’Or award after winning his first international title with Argentina, the Copa America 2021.
The 2021 Ballon d’Or award will be given out in November after it was scrapped for the previous season, due to the coronavirus pandemic. But after a year off, the award is now set to make its return as the nominees were revealed on 8th October. The winner of the award will be voted on by 180 journalists and national team captains and coaches, and the award will be given out by France Football.Â
Lionel Messi has now revealed the name of the players he will vote for in the Ballon d’Or 2021 awards.
Messi said: “Obviously, I have two players in my team for whom I will vote: Neymar and Kylian.”
“There are players who individually have had a great season, like Robert Lewandowski. [Karim] Benzema has also had a great year.”
“It’s hard to say [who will win] because what you do as a team matters a lot in the Ballon d’Or. It used to be the best player of the year that won the award but now it’s the one who accumulates the most titles. Achieving things has a lot of weight in this award.”
