The Argentine legend, Lionel Messi, has expressed that he is indeed very thrilled at the imminent opportunity to begin his career with Inter Miami. The World Champion confirmed his decision to join the MLS club earlier this month, and according to various reports the owner of Inter Miami, Mas has targeted a match against Mexican side Cruz Azul on July 21 for Messi’s debut.

Lionel Messi came to his hometown of Rosario this weekend for a testimonial game for ex-teammate Maxi Rodriguez before doing the same for Riquelme in Buenos Aires. And there on Argentinian Public Television, he expressed his excitement regarding joining the new club, and it has been the first time since he commented on his move to MLS.
He said that it is a very nice feeling to have been able to be at testimonial, with all that he means for football in Argentina, what he means to Boca, to be once again in “La Bombonera”. He also said that now there will be a few days of vacation and then he will start in his new city, his new club, and he is really excited for the same.

He scored a first half hat-trick in the hometown appearance as 42,000 watched on and sang ‘happy birthday’ after he turned 36 Saturday.
