Next week will see the addition of a new color for Steam Deck. On Monday, Valve announced it will offer a white version of the Steam Deck OLED on November 18, in limited quantities. It gives users more variety, particularly users who don’t use custom skins.
Limited Edition White Steam Deck Announced, Includes Exclusive White Carrying Case
The Steam Deck OLED: White Edition will come with the same specs as the one-terabyte variant, and it’ll launch in every region the steam deck is sold today including Australia. This is the second completely new Steam Deck color after last year’s smoky translucent version.
“Last year, we released a smoky translucent limited edition Steam Deck OLED to gauge interest in alternative colors. This is our second experiment in that direction. The key difference this time is that we can ship the Limited Edition White to all regions where Steam Deck is sold. We’re excited to see the response and will use this feedback for potential future color variants,” Valve stated.
The Steam Deck, which first launched in March 2022 with an LCD-only version, has also been something Valve has seen only positive reception for. Valve has been clear about its continued support for the software and hardware of the device, noting both the Steam Deck OLED that brought better visuals to the platform, and what Valve still plans on doing with it.
The Steam Deck OLED: White Edition is a limited edition, and Valve says it will not be restocked once supplies run out. There will be a limit of one purchase per account, with accounts eligible for purchase having made a Steam transaction prior to November 2024 and being in a good status. The Steam Deck has gained popularity since its 2022 release, providing a way to play PC games on the go. The OLED version offers an improved display and longer battery life. However, some games, including GTA 5 and Apex Legends, have lost Steam Deck support since launch.
