French superstar Karim Benzema is having a wonderful time on the pitch for a long, and it seems like his time even at this age will be continued for long. On March 10, at Santiago Bernabeu Karim Benzema created another history of becoming the oldest player in the UEFA Champions League to score a hat-trick being 34 years, 80 days. Not on the Madrid striker scored three consecutive goals, but he lead his team to an iconic victory from a position where they weren’t looking to strike back at the match.
The match
It was round 16, leg 2 of 2 matches at the UCL between the La Liga giants and the Ligue 1 giants, i.e., Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain respectively. PSG was initially ahead of the Spanish capital when their star footballer Kylian Mbappe scored the first goal of the match and for his club at the 39th minute.
PSG naturally gained confidence and there wasn’t any goal for long. But in the second half, at the 61st minute, a storm named Karim Benzema started to show its violence scoring the equalizer for Real Madrid. Soon after 15 minutes, he scored another one making it a 2-1 lead over their opposition.
However no one still thought that the Benzema storm would rise more, but fans all saw the same when soon within 2 minutes the French striker scored the third goal for Madrid, completing his hat-trick.
Performance of Karim Benzema
Karim Benzema had been outstanding on the field that day, and his iconic performance will be remembered by many which he even did at this age, where many other footballers retire. Even the opposition had the deadly striker combination of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe, but in front of Karim Benzema, nothing could stand for long on that day.
