Reports confirm that the Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix is returning with his iconic role as The Joker in a sequel movie of the same. Director Todd Phillips who directed the Joker movie confirmed it the actor is coming back with the project being confirmed.
Joker movie, which was released in 2019, received a huge appreciation all over the world, with Joaquin Phoenix making himself a fan favorite for the role. Phoenix received universal acclaim too as he appeared for the first time in this role and just burned the stage. As per many critics and fans, his performance as the joker is the greatest performance of all time in this role.
Director Phillips confirmed the return of Joaquin Phoenix
Joker movie director Todd Phillips first confirmed the news with an Instagram post. Also, in another post, which is shared by the filmmaker himself, Joaquin Phoenix himself is seen reading the script, which is tentatively titled: ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’. The mystery surrounding the film Joker 2 still remains as Warner Bros. Studios for the first film only shared the photos on its Twitter handle but didn’t disclose any other thing about the project as well as its release date.
The plot of the sequel
Though neither the actor nor the director gave any other information regarding the movie but judging the title of the script it is speculated that fans will see the continuation of exploring the protagonist’s mental disorders. The title – Folie a Deux is primarily a disorder where multiple people share psychiatric symptoms which is usually delusion according to the International Classification of Diseases ICD-10.
Some DC Comics fans are also expecting to see the addition of DC villain Harley Quinn in this film, who has been the long-time sidekick of Joker in the comics. It is to be seen if it really happens, then Margot Robbie who impressively played this role earlier does appear in this movie or not.
