ICC has recently announced its FTP and if things go according to the plans then the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be clashing with the Indian Premiere League (IPL) in 2025. Recently, ICC announced the FTP for the years 2023-2027.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host their tournament in February and March but the Champions Trophy will be taking place in the early part of 2025. The board will shift their tournament to March and April. In that case, the tournament will have a direct clash with IPL. PSL in that circumstance will lose a lot of viewers since the focus during this time is generally on IPL.
According to the FTP, it’s going to be difficult for the other international and T20 leagues that will take place all over the world. Pakistan may have to reschedule the tournament for march and April 2025.
In 2022 as well, Pakistan and India were in a very close clash. Pakistan hosted PSL in the month of January and February to avoid a clash.
ICC released the FTP where is clearly states that Pakistan will be playing 27 Tests, 47 ODIs, and 56 T20Is from 2023 to 2027. They will play Bangladesh (home and away), Australia (away), England (home and away), New Zealand (home), South Africa (home and away), Sri Lanka (home and away), and West Indies (home and away). This is going to be a part of the World Test Championship cycle.
The PCB will be also hosting a triangular series that will involve New Zealand and South Africa in February 2025 and another one in 2026 that will involve Sri Lanka and England. Pakistan will also play a five-match T20I series against England before the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Australia, Ireland, Afghanistan, and Zimbabwe are set to travel to Pakistan for the bilateral series.
