    IPL is one of the most popular T20 leagues in the world. The powerplay, as the name states is all about big shots and high scores but here are some examples that shows the lowest registered scores in powerplay.

    1. 14/3 – SRH v RR at Pune, 2022

    In the six overs, the Sunrisers Hyderabad could score only 14 runs. They hold the joint-lowest powerplay score in IPL along with Rajasthan Royals of 14/ 2 in 2009.

    2. 4/2 – RR v RCB at Cape Town, 2009

    The champions of 2008 could score only 14 runs for 2 wickets in the next year. The 2009 tournament was held in South Africa and the conditions were different from the the previous year which might have played a major role in their poor powerplay performance.

    MS Dhoni’s side decided to bat first in the powerplay that was decided due to the delay made by rain. CSK could score only 15/2 , allowing 25 dot balls to pass by and failed to strike even a single boundary.

    CSK this time had players like Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Smith and Suresh Raina. Delhi Capitals didn’t have their top 3 wicket keepers that included Tahir , Mishra and Coulter-Nile. CSK at this time was at the top of the table whereas DC was at the bottom. It’s even harder for the fans to believe that this was CSK’s 3rd lowest powerplay score in IPL.

    5. 16/1 – CSK v RCB at Chennai, 2019

    Shane Watson couldn’t score a single run in the 10 balls of powerplay. Amabati Raydu scored 12 from 20 balls and a six from Navdeep Saini from RCB during the powerplay.
