With plans to provide each of the 48 groundsmen Rs. 1 lakh, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has made a wonderful gesture toward them. The announcement follows MCA’s successful organisation of the Indian Premier League’s hase from March to May.
The Indian Premier League (IPL league )’s phase was held in Mumbai and Pune. The four venues in Maharashtra collectively hosted 70 matches. Successfully organising the IPL 2022 league phase were the MCA’s ground personnel and supporting staff.
In order to preserve the quality of the pitch and ground, the ground personnel worked in shifts during the IPL 2022, which the MCA was lauded for organising effectively. Although there were no rain-related match interruptions, there was still work for the ground personnel to accomplish in order to keep the playing surfaces in good shape and ensure that the matches go without interruption.
The groundskeepers at Wankhede Stadium were allowed to stay in a five-star hotel thanks to a partnership between the MCA and Cadbury for the IPL 2022. On game days, the firm took care of the hotel and transportation while the support crew benefited from lavish hospitality.
Previously, the personnel was forced to spend the evenings before the game in a stadium room filled with bugs. The most recent season included lavish facilities for the grounds crew.
For two months, 10 IPL teams called the three locations—Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium—home. The Brabourne Stadium served as a daily practise facility for four teams while IPL league games were played at Wankhede and DY Patil. The MCA is already preparing for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup for 50 overs following the successful hosting of the IPL 2022. The event will be held in Mumbai, which will be a notable location as it would provide the MCA and its groundsmen with yet another chance to display their work ethic.
