Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting won’t be at the dugout for the team’s match against Rajasthan Royals since he’s in isolation after his family member tested positive for Covid. It’s indeed very bad news for the Delhi franchise.

Delhi Capitals in their statement said “A family member of Delhi Capitals Head Coach Ricky Ponting has tested positive for COVID. The family has now been moved into an isolation facility and is being well taken care of,”
Though Ricky Ponting tested negative twice but since he was in close contact with the family member, he will be in isolation for five days and will be available for the Kolkata Knight Riders match on April 28. His family has been shifted to a different facility outside the team hotel.

Ponting himself has tested negative twice subsequently. However, in the best interest of the team, the management and medical team has decided that he will remain in isolation for five days, as he was a close contact. He will, therefore, not be present at the ground for tonight’s game against Rajasthan Royals. The franchise requests for Ponting and his family’s privacy to be respected in the current scenario.

Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert from the team tested positive for Covid-19. The tally went to 7 after Ponting’s family member got affected by the virus. Earlier, Delhi Capitals’ matches in Pune were shifted to Mumbai as the entire squad is on a daily RT-PCR testing schedule.
