    Indian Super League 2022-23 Schedule: Matches will be played from Thursday to Sunday

    In the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season 2022-23, matches will run from Thursday to Sunday.

    The competition will begin on October 7 in Kochi with the Kerala Blasters taking on East Bengal in the season opener. There are also double headers (two matches on the same day) on weekends. Weekend doubleheaders are becoming an Indian Super League tradition, and so was last season.

    The schedule for the 2022-23 ISL season will be announced soon. Over the past two seasons, the Indian football community has witnessed the clash between ATK Mohun Bagan and the Kerala Blasters. As a change, East Bengal ATK will replace Mohun Bagan in this encounter.

    Indian Super League 2021-22: An Overview

    The 2021-22 ISL season provided some exciting action. Since 2020, the competition has been held behind closed doors due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. 

    As a result, the games were played in various locations in Goa. This season will mark the return of the home-and-away format that prevailed before the pandemic.

    Last season brought a new champion to Indian football! Jamshedpur FC, the club formed in 2017, won the Indian Super League Winners Shield for the first time. Coming in 2019, Hyderabad FC won the ISL Trophy.

    In particular, Bartholomew Ogbeche, in 20 games he scored 18 goals and won his Golden boot. However, Kolkata giants East Bengal had another disappointing season. They finished last with just one win and 11 points.

    There were also some great transfers. To everyone’s surprise, in December, Juan Ferrando joined his ATK Mohun Bagan from FC Goa after parting ways with Antonio Lopez Havas. 

    East failed to perform well in Bengal, Daniel Chima Chukwu joined Jamshedpur FC in January and played a key role in the Shield’s victory. The most unfortunate event of all was the Kerala Blasters losing in the Grand Finals for the third time since the start.
