In 2021, the Indian Premier League has become the most searched keyword on Google. The tournament was divided into two phases this year due to the second wave of the COVID19 pandemic in the country. The first phase was played in India, and the second phase was shifted to UAE. In the year-ender list of Google, in the ongoing year, IPL emerged on the top along with Euro Cup, T20 World Cup and Tokyo Olympics.
IPL 2022 initially started with its auction ceremony in February and the season started in April and went till June before it was suspended. Later on, it was shifted to the United Arab Emirates due to the increasing number of COVID19 cases in India. The second phase continued in September and went on till October.
