India defeated New Zealand by 73 runs in their third T20 of the series at the Eden Gardens, on Sunday. It was a dominant victory for the Indians and eventually, they made a dominant series win as well by a score of 3-0. The series showed some good performances by some debutants in the Indian team, which signifies the future of Indian Cricket is in safe hands.
The match
The match initially started with Rohit Sharma the captain of the Indian team, winning the toss and electing to bat first. He showed a good performance scoring 56 of 31 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Also, Ishan Kishan opened with him scored 29 of 21 balls with 6 fours.
Along with that, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer too played well scoring 25 of 20 and 20 of 15 respectively. Lastly, with the joint efforts of Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar, India reached a good total of 184 with the loss of 7 wickets. Both of them are tail-enders in international cricket but batted well, where both of them hit 2 fours and a six. Harshal Patel scored 18 of 11 balls, and Deepak Chahar scored 21 of just 8 balls.
Good Bowling by Team India
In the second half of the game also, India performed well. Apart from Martin Guptill, scoring 51 of 36 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes, no one could stand for long, eventually getting all out at the score of 111 in only 17.2 overs. Though Deepak Chahar conceded some runs, apart from him the bowling department did well, especially Axar Patel who gave only 9 runs in his 3 overs conceding 3 wickets, with an economy of 3.00. He was awarded the player of the match. It is overall a good Team India to see under the new reign of head coach Rahul Dravid.
